The methodology was valid over the entire operating range of the engine subject to changes in engine speed, manifold pressure, spark timing, intake cam position, and exhaust cam position. This research developed a methodology for combustion analysis and modeling processes for advanced internal combustion engines. As a result, engine modeling has become popular for control design to reduce the calibration stages. In order to meet these demands advanced internal combustion engines are being developed however the controls for these engines has become more complex, due to added degrees of freedom, which adds time to the calibration process. As the world oil reserves continue to deplete, the need for more fuel efficient vehicles has become a necessity among the society to counteract the increasing fuel prices.
